About

Why we started SkyAide.

An airline already holds more context about a passenger than almost any other business. The itinerary, the disruption history, the loyalty balance, the meal preference, the people they are travelling with, the partner benefits they have never used. What it does not have is one place where all of that is true at the same time.

So decisions get made narrowly. A rules engine rebooks by fare class. A campaign tool sends whichever offer performed best last quarter. A recovery desk works the queue in the order it arrived. Each of those decisions is defensible on its own, and together they leave real value on the table for the passenger and for the airline.

The obvious response is to add AI to each step. That trades one problem for a worse one: a model with broad system access, acting on passenger records, with no reproducible account of why it did what it did. No airline security function should accept that, and the good ones do not.

SkyAide is the layer in between. It reads your systems through normalised connectors and keeps provenance on every fact. It works out what is genuinely best for this passenger, this airline, and this journey, including the option of doing nothing. Then it puts that decision through a governor that has to approve it before anything happens, and afterwards it measures whether the decision actually helped.

We start read-only. Nothing touches a passenger record until your operations and security teams have signed off on what the platform is allowed to do.

    The best answer is sometimes no action

    A system that always has something to sell is not working for the traveller. SkyAide can recommend a service, an operational change, a benefit the passenger already holds, or nothing at all.

    AI interprets, a deterministic engine decides

    Models are good at reading messy context and poor at being accountable for it. Interpretation is theirs. The decision to act on a passenger record belongs to a policy engine that returns the same answer twice.

  3. 03

    Fairness is a product requirement

    Every recommendation, price, incentive and recovery option passes an independent trust check covering consent, purpose, suitability, value floors, non-discrimination, accessibility and dark patterns. It runs before execution, not in a policy document.

    Nothing is true until it is measured

    We measure every intervention against a counterfactual, so we can say which ones caused traveller and airline value rather than which ones happened to correlate with it.

    Earn the right to act

    Six operating modes, from diagnostic through to bounded automation. A capability ships in the safest mode that is still useful, and it moves further only when the evidence justifies it.

Monika Mishra has spent close to two decades building and running large-scale cloud infrastructure in organisations where both downtime and overspend have immediate consequences.

She was most recently a Director of Engineering at a Fortune 100 digital banking and financial institution, where she set technical strategy across a large cloud portfolio and introduced the cost and efficiency discipline that took 25 percent out of enterprise infrastructure spend.

Before that she was a Principal Software Engineer at a Tier 1 global social and distributed networking platform, owning the architectural roadmap and scalability of mission-critical systems serving hundreds of millions of users. Earlier she spent more than six years on open-source cloud automation and microservices architecture through the hyper-growth years of a pioneering cloud hosting provider.

She holds an engineering degree from Virginia Tech.

Monika started SkyAide because the pattern she kept meeting in regulated industries applies directly to aviation. The data is already there and so are the systems. What is missing is a way to decide well across all of them, and to prove afterwards that the decision was the right one. That is an engineering and governance problem before it is an AI problem.
